There are no Amtrak stations near Florida Panhandle or Hurlburt Square. Alternatively, you can take a Greyhound bus from Fort Walton Beach and connect to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Pensacola and other major cities on the east and south coasts.

The closest airport to Hurlburt Field is Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport. It is 15 miles from the front gates of Hurlburt Field. The airport is served by five major airlines (Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest and United Airlines) with daily direct or connecting flights.

On arrival, all permanently assigned personnel report to the Commando Welcome Center with copies of orders and receipts for travel vouchers. The Commando Welcome Center is the only new commando welcome center at Hurlburt Field. Upon arrival, incoming members will be accompanied by a sponsor to an appointment at the Hurlburt Welcome Center. New arrivals are informed about programs, supports and services available on base from various agencies.

The official mail center is open Monday through Friday from 0900 to 1630 and is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays. Express and certified mail services are available, as well as mailboxes for rent.

There are several towns near Hurlburt Square including Fort Walton Beach, Ocean City and Wright. Many people who live in Hurlburt Field choose to live in Fort Walton because it offers many residential options, family-friendly attractions and a short commute to work.

Fort Walton Beach is a small city of over 20,000 residents near Hurlburt Square in the Florida Panhandle. It is famous for its white sand beaches, emerald waters and beautiful golf courses on neighboring Okaloosa Island. The city has family resorts and things like parks, museums and aquariums. The island's Gulfarium marine adventure park is home to dolphins, penguins and alligators.

The Fort Walton Beach suburb of Ocean City has a population of approximately 6,300.
